What I love about Japan, is its ability to convince me that humanity try and do at certain times reach perfection in any of its endeavours.
What is hospitality? Apart from making your guests feel welcomed the moment they arrive and providing them the best material and immaterial comforts to make them feel at home throughout their stay, is the essence of hospitality. What I have experienced at Intercontinental Hotel Osaka, is they have turned hospitality into an art.
What do I like about Intercontinental Hotel Osaka?
First of all, the service is flawless. I judge the service from when you are received the moment you enter the premises. We were guided by a polite and cheerful lady at the ground floor, all the way to the busy but well-coordinated and watchful reception at check-in. Throughout our stay, we were greeted with smiles and bows, in a genuine way that is atypical for Japanese culture. This shows that staff was trained to not only be polite – as the Japanese are known throughout the world for – but also warm and approachable.
Secondly, the room was nothing short of complete luxury. The bed was extremely comfortable. The shower and bath was very well designed. I really like the transparent bathroom that is very cleverly designed. The tea and coffee set has the wow factor. All supplies are refilled and cleaned everyday and looked perfect.
Also, the view is breathtaking both day and night. It is a room where you can perfectly stay in for a whole day and feel completely relaxed in.
Thirdly, the hotel bar itself was a spectacular establishment you have to visit. Its selection of wine is nothing short of exquisite (you can see them all stacked up in a wall), what I like is its ambiance of cycadelic colours against the backdrop of an amazing cityscape. It’s a great place for people watching and enjoying a drink and a chat just before heading out for dinner.
Last but not least, Intercontinental Hotel Osaka’s location is extremely good. It is within walking distance from the railway station. It is part o fthe new development area called Kita (“north”) which is Osaka’s most modern district filled with spectacular skyscrapers. Part of the Umeda 梅田 area, you have direct access to all the shopping you can get. For nightlife, the nearby Doyamacho 堂山町 arcade has all the grills and yakiniku you can get. For finer dining, the Kitashinchi 北新地駅 area south of the station is within 10 minutes by foot. The hotel is about 20 minutes from the shopping area of Shinsaibashi 心斎橋 and the main nightlife centre of Dotonbori 道頓堀 by public transport.
I really look forward to staying with Intercontinental Hotel Osaka the next time I go to Osaka!
