Looking for a place to stay in Vientiane? Look no further.

The Crowne Plaza Vientiane is the most luxurious hotel in the city, and quite certainly in the whole of Laos.

It is the first five-star hotel in Laos. As part of the IHG group, you can expect it not to defer from the quality comfort, facilities, design and service that is the hallmark of the chain at least in Southeast Asia.

What I liked about Crowne Plaza Vientiane

Crowne Plaza Vientiane offers a magnificent view over the city and is located right in the centre of the city. Although Vientiane is not a big city by Southeast Asian standards, being in the centre of things helps in the sweltering tropical heat.

I really like the Crowne Plaza Vientiane being a stone’s throw away from the night market.

The Crowne Plaza Club

The Club lounge is accessible only to IHG Gold members and is the perfect place to enjoy the exclusiveness the hotel has to offer. The service here is impeccable and the French-Laotian fusion food is of a high standard.

The Sumptuous Breakfast Buffet

Initially, we only took the breakfast spread in the Club as we usually do, to avoid the crowd and the noise. But we decided to try out the breakfast buffet one morning and I was very pleasantly surprised. Normally, breakfast buffets tend to be filled with unruly tourists.

This pain is eased by the sheer size of the breakfast area, and the number of service staff willing to assist you.

I’m never a fan of bread and pastries in Southeast Asia, but I must say the quality is quite good here. The Laotian spread was really good, with freshly made noodles with a variety of toppings and soup bases.

The Celebrity Pool & Pool Bar

The pool is a main highlight of the hotel.

You can even spot some local celebrities hanging out here, as well as some local fashionistas on a photo-shoot.

The bar beside the pool offers really innovative cocktails and nice snacks. It’s a pity the pool is on the third floor though, as the smog coming from the streets below can get unpleasant as the day draws to a close.

To be honest, I’m not a fan of Vientiane itself. I think Laos as a up and coming tourist destination has far more to offer. However, if you must go to Vientiane, then the Crowne Plaza Vientiane is certainly a place you can cope yourself up and treat yourself to some world-class luxury.
